We had some excitement in El Segundo, California last week with the grand opening celebration of David Schat’s Bakery & Cafe. Almost everyone that makes the drive up to Mammoth Lakes for a ski trip is familiar with Erick Schat’s Bakery in Bishop, California. Well, David is part of that famous family of talented bakers and decided to open up his very own shop right here in El Segundo. I couldn’t have been more delighted to document their grand opening! David and Carrie, along with their warm and friendly staff, welcomed excited community leaders and hungry customers with delicious food and fun activities. . . it was a perfect way to celebrate!

There was an official ribbon-cutting at 11:45 a.m.

The El Segundo High School Choir performed, along with several other musicians throughout the day.

And the afternoon offered cupcake decorating for the young and young at heart!

The bakery cases were filled with an abundance of deliciousness to choose from. . .

. . . or you could sip on a tasty coffee drink.

They also offer a full menu of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and daily soups. The 5-spice sweet potato fries are to die for! They are open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Saturday so you can stop in for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack. And on Sunday they are open from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. I promise you will not be disappointed with anything you choose — it’s all fantastic. The only hard part will be deciding what to get!
So stop in, fill your belly, and say hi to David and Carrie. . . tell them I sent you!
