Most of the cards are 5″ x 7″ flat (think postcard style), full color cards, printed on a high quality press paper.  A few of the designs are die-cut (with ornamental shapes or rounded corners) and a few of the designs are 5″ x 5″ square.  All can be customized with a different color, greeting, names, etc.

He’s sure to love it!  And, if you act quickly, you can get them for 15% off.  But you have to get your order in by 9:00 p.m. PST on May 24.  You can still place an order after that, but the sale pricing will not be in effect.  All orders must be in by May 28 to guarantee delivery in time for Father’s Day on June 17th.

I wear my small pendant necklace almost every day and I get comments on it nearly every day.  The fun part is that you can completely customize it.  Choose a round charm (like I have) or a square.  Choose to add multiple photo charms.  Or add a hand-stamped charm that says anything your heart desires (well, anything that’s less than 7 characters!).  I opted for my boys’ initials.

I just added an heirloom necklace to my collection.  The photo charm is larger than on the pendant necklace, so it’s a little more of a statement piece.  But I love being able to have my whole family right next to my heart all day long!

Please excuse the slightly wonky color in these images.  I don’t think Restoration Hardware will be hiring me for catalog photos anytime soon!  I’ll stick to people and landscapes as my primary subjects, but these will do for my purpose here.

So, a quick tour of my home, starting with the family room.

Next, I’ll take you to my living room.

My corner display consists of two 16×20 canvases and one 10×20 storyboard panel. I also have a collection of smaller, framed portraits on the piano and another shelf in the room.

My front hallway is my “lifetime milestone” collection, the big life events–wedding, babies–all in one place!

The three photos are all 11×14.  Our framed wedding invitation and a cross-stitch made by my mother-in-law round out the display.  (And the thermostat, of course. . . how I wish I could relocate that thing!)

Finally, I’ll take you to my upstairs hallway with another display of photos of my kids.  These are more casual photos and the theme is, obviously, “winter,” our family’s favorite season.

The large photo is a 20×30 canvas and the two smaller photos are 8×10, matted and framed to 10×13.

Hopefully this glimpse into my home and our photos on display will inspire you.  Two bits of advice when deciding what to put on your own walls:  go with your first instinct  AND then go bigger!  When you first see your photo gallery, the images that instantly take your breath away are the ones you’ll want on your walls.  I know that the longer you look at them, the more you love and the harder it is to decide.  But if you go with that first reaction, you won’t be sorry.  And then take a measuring tape to the area you want to put your picture and really see how much wall space it’s going to take up.  If you scroll back through my displays, you’ll see lots of big sizes listed (16×20, 16×24, 20×30) but none look overwhelmingly large when in their rooms.

Finally, remember to have fun!  Happy decorating!

Consider the 2 prints below:  one is an 8×10 and one is not.

The one on the left is the 8×10.  The one on the right is an 11×14, just one step larger in standard photographic print sizing.  But consider how much more impact the larger print has than the 8×10.  And these are just displayed on the top of a piano.  Think about hanging that photo on a wall, a wall that is nearly 9 feet high and 8-10 feet wide. . . which size print going to get lost and which is going to be a nice addition to your room?

When making an investment in custom family portraits, I encourage you to think a little bigger than the standard 5×7 and 8×10 prints you grew up with.  They certainly have their place, in an album or in a nice frame to sit on your desk, but the wonderful thing about custom portraiture is the beautiful, personalized art you get.  Art that looks really amazing when it’s a little bit bigger than an 8×10. 

In the coming weeks, I’ll show you some more custom portraits as they are displayed at home.  Hopefully it will give you some inspiration and some ideas on ways to display your own works of art!

I just got a few sample books and am so excited to show them off!

The books are custom-designed by me and incorporate as many of the images from your session as you’d like.  The large books can be purchased in a 10″ x 10″ size or an 11″ x 8.5″ size.

The small books are 5″ x 5″.

The books are printed on a high-quality press-printed paper and have hinged pages, so they lay flat when they are opened for easy viewing and a sophisticated look.

And one of my favorite things about these books is the number of choices you have for the cover.  You can get a custom-designed photo cover or one of 33 different materials, from leather to suede to fabric in an array of colors.
