Fine Art Friday: Woods {Los Angeles Photographer}

While in Bozeman, Montana last month, I was out for a portrait photo shoot when this caught my eye.  I was drawn to the lines, the texture, and that yummy light.  It’s called “the golden hour” for good reason!

trees, sunset, birch trees, montana, vertical lines

This fine art project has been one of my favorite projects of the year.  I love creating fine art images, but even more, I love that it connects me to a fab group of other professional women photographers.  So take a few minutes for a little blog hop for some Friday morning inspiration… you won’t want to miss what the Durham NC Lifestyle Photographer Leigh Ann Hines has for this month!

Aspens, right? Such beautiful trees – so long and skinny and tall. Love this shot!

Britt Anderson - August 31, 2012 - 10:14 am

I love the depth you created, and you are right about that light!

Oh that’s so cool. I love all the texture and lines.

Boy’s Best Friend {Los Angeles Family Photographer}

My last session in Bozeman almost didn’t happen.  It was the night before flying back to Los Angeles and the rains started around 5 p.m.  And they continued for another 2 hours.  We went into standby mode and when it looked like the skies were finally going to dry up, I quickly called and said “let’s go!”

And all that worry was worth it!  We had the most beautiful light and location and an awesome pair of brothers!  Like all good Montana families, they also have a furry “sibling” that took part in the fun!

Yes, there were smiles and hugs and laughter, but these are boys, afterall, so there was plenty of mischief and silliness, too!

There was also something else super special about this session, but I’m keeping my lips sealed for now.  Just one more week and I can share the fun — so stay tuned!

These are great!

Under the Rainbow {Los Angeles Family Photographer}

This family is a familiar sight in front of my lens. . . I’ve been photographing them since 2010!  I love getting to watch so many of my clients grow throughout the years and these kiddos are no exception!

It almost didn’t happen this time, though.  Our session was scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday and at about 5:00 p.m. the sky grew dark and the storms rolled in.  Rain poured.  It did not look good.  I held out hope that like most Bozeman storms, however, it would quickly pass.  Well, at about 6:45 it was still raining but we decided to meet, crossing fingers, sending up prayers, and doing every rain dance we knew.  And sure enough, by 7:05 the drips stopped!

We were even treated to a fleeting rainbow — can you catch the light glimpse of it in this image?!

Even though it didn’t last long, it put us all in the perfect mood (with some pretty soft, flattering light) for an amazing session.  Just take a peek. . .

Told you — amazing!  Such an honor to have this beautiful family in front my camera yet again!

Friday Mini {Los Angeles Photographer}

It’s Friday!  Woo Hoo!  Just as I promised, this week has been busy over here on the old blog.  As we head into the weekend, I have one final sneak peek from a Mini Session I did in Bozeman with two little sweeties!

Sweet, smart, and spunky, these two sisters had plenty of adorableness to boot!

Happy Friday!

At home in Montana {Los Angeles Photographer}

If this family looks a bit familiar, there’s good reason. . . Tracy is a consultant and business leader with Rodan + Fields skin care and earlier this summer she celebrated earning a Lexus right here in Southern California!  I documented that night for her, which you can view here.  She’s such an inspiration and the products, developed by the creators of ProActiv Solution, are so effective I signed on to her business team as consultant a few months ago myself!

This post, though, is about Tracy and her beautiful family.  She has roots in Southern California, so that’s where she celebrated her fantastic accomplishment with R+F, but she and her family call Bozeman, Montana home.  So when I was there a few weeks ago, we did a family session in one of the most beautiful spots in all of the country!

Her girls are as funny, sweet and spunky as they are beautiful!  I just love the bond between these two!

We had a great session and wrapped it up with a little fun in front of an amazing view!
