The Cousins {Bozeman Child Photographer}

Last November I had a contest to vote for your favorite 2010.  The image that got the most votes was presented in a 16×20 canvas to the subject and I randomly drew from among the voters to give away a free session and 16×20 canvas from that session.  I was delighted when the winner turned out to be the sister of some of my favorite clients.  And they just happened to have a trip to Bozeman planned for this June.  So we did a session with all of the cousins together on a beautiful Montana summer night last week!

Five cousins pose for a portrait in Bozeman, Montana.

Two sisters pose with their children in front of the Bridger Mountains in Montana.

These kids were so much fun to work with!  I really was having a tough time narrowing down my “sneak peek” so I just threw in the hat and decided to post 2 individual pictures of each of them, starting with the oldest. . .

A lovely girl is photographed in a mountain field of wildflowers.

Two year old smiles big while having his picture taken.

While it was my first time meeting the winners of my complimentary session, this was the third time their trio of cousins have been in front of my camera.  I love watching them grow each year and I also love recreating similar shots from each session. . . these next two really take me back to last summer!  (And gasp a little at how much older they look after just 1 year. . . sorry, Mom, I couldn’t help but say that!)

Three brothers pose for a photo in Bozeman, Montana.

Big brothers give their little brother a kiss.

As the sun got lower in the sky, we had the perfect warm glow of light.  The perfect way to wrap up our session!

Beautiful Bride {Bozeman Montana Wedding Photographer}

I had the pleasure of helping the extremely talented Rab Cummings of rabphotography shoot a wedding this past weekend.  It was a beautiful Montana summer day, with the ceremony amid wildflowers and under mountain peaks at the Bracket Creek Inn, up Bridger Canyon just outside of Bozeman.  As you might suspect, I have a ton of images to go through.  One of my favorite parts of working at a wedding is capturing the “getting ready” of the bride.  There’s so much fun and excitement with her best girlfriends by her side, a little bit of nervousness, eagerness to see the groom, and of course, beauty.  So that’s the first round of images I’m going to share from this special day. . . the beautiful bride.

Her dress was a vintage dress, worn by her grandmother.

And she looked like a classic beauty in it, with Mom helping to put the finishing touches on.

As I said, she had her best friends by her side to help her prepare. . .

The bridesmaids help the bride get beautiful for her wedding ceremony.

I loved her colorful bouquet, a perfect mix of colors to compliment the blooming wildflowers surrounding the venue.

Finally ready to go, she just glowed, as all brides do!

The bride poses in a flood of white light before going to meet her groom on their wedding day.

We headed outside to await a “first look” with her groom (those images coming on another day).

A bride

I thought it fitting to share this to wrap up the post. . . the bride in her lovely vintage dress, her colorful bridesmaids alongside.  Such a pretty and perfect day!

Moo {Bozeman Nature Photographer}

I shared a black-and-white image yesterday and confessed that usually I love bright colors in my images.  Sometimes, though, you just need a good black-and-white.  Or a series of black-and-whites.  And if some genuine Montana cattle, relaxing in a field, mountains and fluffy clouds looming overhead don’t scream “black-and-white!” I don’t know what does.

This particular cow, Number 103, was quite the model.  He didn’t take his eyes off me the entire time I was photographing him and his friends.  Thank you, 103, I do certainly do appreciate it!

Delicate {Bozeman Nature Photographer}

I’ll confess, I love color.  For me, bright, clean color brings an image to life.  But I do have a teeny tiny soft spot for a beautiful black-and-white image.  And something about these delicate blooms that I spied alongside a Bozeman hiking trail just seemed to go straight to that soft spot.  And I felt compelled to share.  Hope you enjoy!
