A Mother's Love {Bozeman Family Photographer}

I just had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend, from talking with my own mom on the phone to the French Toast Sunday brunch prepared by my husband and sons to the Saturday morning I spent with 3 beautiful Bozeman mamas.  The weekend was filled with love and family and I’m happy to share a tiny sneak peek of some of that love. . .

A beautiful mom hugs her son and daughter.

A young mother loves her adorable toddler son.

A beautiful mom poses with her children in the park.

I hope all you moms felt as special as these lovely women did this weekend!  I have more to share of each of them (and their adorable kids) this week, so stay tuned!

Friday Favorites: The Food Edition {Bozeman Photographer}

This edition of Friday Favorites is dedicated to food.  I love to cook, but I must confess that my energy and excitement about it has definitely been low in the last few months.  A few of my recent issues of Cooking Light magazine, however, have me reinvigorated!

Here are a few of my favorite recent recipes.  I apologize for not having images of all of them.  Hopefully the names will be mouth-watering enough for you to click the recipe and try them out yourselves!

Roasted Vegetable Pizza

Strawberry-Avocado Salsa with Cinnamon Chips

Artichoke Spinach Dip

Cocoa Fudge Cookies

Who doesn’t love a soft, chewy chocolate cookie?  Yum!

Tuscan Lemon Muffins

And to counter the richness of the chocolate, a fresh bite of lemon makes these muffins a perfect complement!

So, get cooking!  I know Mom would love to wake up to a batch of deliciousness on her special day this Sunday!

Thanks for including the recipes! Can I ask where you acquired the puzzle piece trivet? I love it!

Jenny–it was a gift from my sister years ago. I’ll check with her and see if she remembers. I think the pair were technically called “sushi plates” for serving sushi. But I think they’re fun for lots of other stuff too!

Friday Favorites {Bozeman Photographer}

Time for a few favorites of the week. . . first up, Ginger Beer.  I’ll admit that it’s not really this that’s my favorite, it’s the beverage that it goes into that’s a favorite–the Moscow Mule.  I was introduced to this cocktail at a holiday party back in December and had the impression it was a Montana tradition.  When I googled a recipe, though, the number one hit was on Oprah’s website.  So, I think it’s safe to say that the cocktail has gone mainstream!  A little more googling revealed that it was actually invented in 1941 and became the drink of the 1950′s.  It faded into obscurity for decades, but as evidenced by its appearance on Oprah’s website, I’d say it’s making a comeback.

I spotted a 4-pack of Ginger Beer near the checkout at World Market this week and I just couldn’t resist bringing some home.  I may not have the traditional copper mugs that it’s served in, but I plan on adding some vodka and lime,  enjoying a little Friday night cocktail with my husband!

Ginger Beer

Another favorite of the week is one of the coolest books I’ve ever seen, gifted to my oldest son for his birthday a few months ago.  It’s called Encyclopedia Prehistorica:  Dinosaur.

Encyclopedia Prehistorica

Dinosaurs rival trucks and trains for popularity in our household, and as such, we have quite a few books on all three of those topics.  This book, however, is like none I have ever seen.  When you open the first page you are surprised and delighted with dinosaurs come to life!  They are brightly colored and intricately detailed and just plain amazing.

Pop-up Triceratops

From the T-Rex that jumps right out to take a bite. . .

Pop up T-Rex

to the archaeopteryx about to fly off the page. . .

it has both me and my sons mesmerized.  I just have to be sure to keep my almost-2-year-old closely supervised when reading it!

So, enjoy a cocktail, pull out a good book, and have a fantastic weekend!

Model Search {Bozeman Family Photographer}

The search is on!  I’m looking for 3 moms of young kids (preferably ages 5 and under) willing to model a fabulous line of custom-made diaper, messenger, and camera bags.  You and your children will be involved in the photo shoot and you must be willing to sign a model release.

In addition to having a fun morning modeling these fantastic bags you’ll also get a few other goodies:  a voucher for 50% off any bag you’d like to order from my vendor, a mommy & me mini-session (immediately following the product photo shoot), a complimentary 8×10 print of your choice from the session, and the option to purchase additional prints or products.

The photoshoot will be on Saturday, May 7th at 8:00 a.m. in downtown Bozeman.  You must be available for at least 2 hours.

*date/time subject to good weather (let’s hope this spring snow clears out soon!)

Interested?  Please e-mail me at amy@amyshertzerphotography.com prior to Friday, April 29th.  Be sure to give me your name, the ages of your kids (or kid), and your contact information.  Models selected will be notified no later than Tuesday, May 3rd.

Friday Favorites {Bozeman Family Photographer}

A random list of favorites for today. . .

I’ll start with long eyelashes.  Who doesn’t love long eyelashes, especially on little ones?  I am a tad jealous that my almost 2-year-old son is the owner of these beauties.  Why is it that the boys always seem to get the gorgeous lashes?

See and Spell Puzzle.  One of our latest favorite toys in the house is this fun wooden puzzle.  My 4-year-old is getting pretty good at spelling and this is a fun way to practice some of his new words.  And my almost-2-year-old is starting to recognize a few letters but mostly has fun just trying to match the shapes.  And I’ll confess that I even love playing with the brightly colored, smooth wooden letters.

It’s brought to you by none other than Melissa & Doug!

Bunnies.  Who doesn’t love a fuzzy bunny?

And to go with the bunny. . . a basket full of Easter eggs!

Have a wonderful, happy Easter this weekend!
