If you saw my last post, you know I have hockey on the mind, which has been a theme in front of my camera lately. Just like the family in the previous post, this beautiful family also has a retired NHL player among its ranks! They spent considerable time in Los Angeles when Dad played for the L.A. Kings and now they’re back to stay. What better way to settle back in than to put our famous Los Angeles beaches to work in the backdrop of updated family pictures!

I have to take a second and give HUGE props to these awesome kids. . . to get the lovely morning light ideal for pictures, we met at the beach just as the sun was starting to come over the horizon. These kids were nice, polite, funny and really enjoyed each other’s company — a beautiful thing in and of itself, but before 7:00 a.m., well, I was very impressed!

Not only were the human kiddos happy, the furry one was, too!

Before their session ended, we had a chance to incorporate Mom’s idea of the kids wearing Dad’s old hockey jerseys. I love adding that personal touch to a session

I adore this family! This is the third time I’ve photographed them and it really was a charm! Mom always comes up with a fun theme or the perfect colors for their holiday cards… the pops of red this year are just perfect with the greens and blues of the ocean in the background. The gorgeous kiddos make my job easy!

I especially love how they always find a way to incorporate their passion for hockey (Dad, after all, is a former NHL player who spent several years playing for the L.A. Kings). The Kings surfboard was the perfect addition to a beachy holiday card from an awesome hockey family

I met this soon-to-be family of 4 on the beach one morning, and boy did we have fun!

And this handsome guy. . . he’s going to make a fantastic big brother!

This lovely family came to me via Bakersfield and a shared connection from the past! One of my best friends is an amazing photographer — Erin Cobb — who happens to live in Alabama. A few years ago, she headed out to the West Coast for a fun girls’ weekend in the City of Angels, squeezing in a couple of family sessions while she was here. This party of five, long-time fans of Erin, made the trek to L.A. to get in front of her camera. Now, two years later, it’s time for updated family photos and they made the trek back to L.A. to get in front of my camera.

It was an honor, privilege, and darn great way to spend the afternoon!

Glowing inside and out, I think you can easily see why I had such a great time with them!

This family kept up my streak of fabulous morning clients, arriving on the beach perfectly styled and ready to go! A beautiful color palate with pops of the most perfect prints in just the right spots!

As you can see, they had the smiles and swagger to completely coordinate with their fab outfits!

Delightful {Los Angeles Family Photographer}

I met this wonderful family on the Redondo Beach Pier a little over a week ago. They hadn’t done family pictures since the addition of their newest member, a handsome little now-4-month-old boy. Not that you need more reason than that, but Grandma was in town visiting, too, and it was a fun morning to get some pictures in the Southern California sunshine by the beach! We may not get the colorful foliage you find in other parts of the country during autumn, but when we have a good fall day, it’s downright delightful. And this day definitely goes into that category!

. . . just so much goodness to soak up!

A chilly start. . . {Los Angeles Photographer}

When I saw that it was snowing in Bozeman, Montana the day before I was flying in for the weekend to do family pictures for 16 families, I had a little panic attack. Thankfully the snow cleared out and we had sunny skies for my first morning of mini-sessions. With the gorgeous fall color, it was really a perfect scene!

Except for the fact that it was only 16 degrees F outside! My poor little 4-year-old client was absolutely too frozen to smile!

But, after some snuggles and kisses from mom and dad, he warmed right up!

Since it was so bitter cold, I offered them the opportunity to come back for a few more photos during my afternoon sessions. At least 30 degrees warmer, we didn’t even need mom and dad kisses to bring on the smiles this time!

I had such a great time seeing this dear family twice in one day — I’m so glad they were such troopers!

Under the Rainbow {Los Angeles Family Photographer}

This family is a familiar sight in front of my lens. . . I’ve been photographing them since 2010! I love getting to watch so many of my clients grow throughout the years and these kiddos are no exception!

It almost didn’t happen this time, though. Our session was scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday and at about 5:00 p.m. the sky grew dark and the storms rolled in. Rain poured. It did not look good. I held out hope that like most Bozeman storms, however, it would quickly pass. Well, at about 6:45 it was still raining but we decided to meet, crossing fingers, sending up prayers, and doing every rain dance we knew. And sure enough, by 7:05 the drips stopped!

We were even treated to a fleeting rainbow — can you catch the light glimpse of it in this image?!

Even though it didn’t last long, it put us all in the perfect mood (with some pretty soft, flattering light) for an amazing session. Just take a peek. . .

Told you — amazing! Such an honor to have this beautiful family in front my camera yet again!

Gorgeous Family {Los Angeles Family Photographer}

This photo shoot was in the South Bay of Los Angeles last month and looking at the images, I can’t think of a better title for this post than “gorgeous.” It was a gorgeous night and they really are just a gorgeous family. And fun and sweet and playful and happy, too. It was a perfect evening and I’m so happy to have captured so many great pieces of their personalities.

Sisterly Love {Los Angeles Children’s Photographer}

I had an amazing session with an amazing family last week, and while I will share a lot more in a few days, I can’t resist a tiny little peek right now of these sweet sisters. We had lots of fun and lots of big smiles and laughs, but I’m really drawn to this image with the sweet and loving bond between them so evident. It really makes me wish I had an image like this of me and my sister when we were girls!

After a break for Thanksgiving, it’s now officially Christmas season, so I’d better get these fall mini-session peeks wrapped up!

It was early September when I scheduled my trip to Bozeman. I picked a late weekend in October and crossed my fingers that the weather would hold out and there wouldn’t be six inches of snow on the ground. Well, my prayers were answered and the weather that weekend was gorgeous, the fall color was amazing. A perfect backdrop for photographing this wonderful family. They landed in our fantastic neighborhood shortly after my family did in 2008. Their kids quickly joined the dozens of others playing tag, biking, running, and having fun in the streets. It was a constant block party and one of the many reasons we fell in love with Bozeman!

Anyhow, watching these kids for the last few years I was delighted to finally get them in front of my camera. Gorgeous family — inside and out!

And could these 2 be any cuter?

My family certainly misses you all and we are eagerly looking forward to the days when my own two boys will be joining back in the fun with your kiddos in a few years!
