I love the crashing of the waves.  It’s kind of ironic how something so violent can be so soothing.  But I could sit at the shoreline and listen to it for hours. . .

Here’s a birds-eye view of the South Bay from the top of the Ferris Wheel on the Santa Monica pier.  Definitely worth the price of a ticket!

Finally for today, the sun put on quite a show before setting. . .

I’ve been in California with my family for about a month and a half now.  And this beautiful state has delivered more than its share of odd weather.  I expected blue skies, sunshine, ideal temps pretty much all the time. . . you know, what everyone always thinks of Southern California.  Instead we’ve gotten foggy marine layers, gray and overcast days on end, rain, and even thunder!  We have had some sunshine, but not nearly as often as I thought we would.

The first weekend of October, though, was a pure delight.  I finally got to see the gorgeous blues and greens of the ocean and I got to do it my favorite way — with camera in hand!
